Before we hit the road back home, we took a detour to see another great place, which I understood it is now an UNESCO heritage.
We arrived quite early (e.g. before sunset,we are never too early trust me) in Calnic, and we were very eager to see the fortress, but when wanted to open the door, it was locked! Bummers! Apparently we needed someone to give us a private tour, and btw. how cool is that? So after a quick dial of the number largely printed on the door, a gentle voice of a woman picked up the phone and she said she will swing by to open the door, by it will take 5 to 10 minutes, “because it’s cold outside”. I couldn’t agree more.
So after using snapchat to it’s full extend we heared the door opening and a woman opened the door, while pushing her bicicle in. She greeted us and after explaining to her what our intentions are, she let us in. The place was filled with emptiness but full of romantic trades. I will let you look at the pictures!
Like any location in Transilvania it has it’s own special flair. We are happy to have visited it and we hope you can come and say the same too!
Btw. Google has set up a virtual tour in case you’ve gotten curious about it already.Have it a go!
