Symbols & Dior
I like symbols a lot, because when you let them in your life they represent hope.
So what if something goes wrong?
“Don’t worry”, you may say , “I have faith, I believe”.
Family, friends, love, trust in everybody you know, you meet, and work with can make your world a very happy and safe place. What would happen to you if you didn’t have someone in your life to love, someone to trust, someone who makes you happy or confident?
All of that are symbols, and they guide you where ever you may go.
Right around the holidays you feel the need to have a Christmas tree in your life, because you love the idea of wealth, the beauty that comes with it and no matter where you work, it keeps everyone happy and confident that this year’s holidays are the best ones yet.
Symbols like Christmas makes us happy, in fact it is such a big thing that everyone starts to get hyped about it right after Halloween and in some cases, even before.Christmas is the moment when the nights are long and windy, the days are short and cold and of course as the Winter Holidays are approaching you want to make the most of it.
It too have decided that it is good moment to head to Paris for a few days to see the Dior 150 years Retrospective as one of the most iconic brands for women and men alike.
And it was a great event because the exhibition was filled with iconic dresses on both floors, and the most memorable moments and dressed were displayed in the “Grand Hall”.
It was full with magical displays of dresses, from the first one designed by Dior himself in 1918,which greeted you right at the entrance to the last and most significant one like the “mermaid dress” which you could recognize from the famous Dior J’adore ads.
Every dress is symbolic, because as every year is different, the fashion statement is changing and we too change, bit by bit by letting new symbols into our lives.
Seeing the 150 year’s retrospective of Dior’s work and not only, made me realize how important symbols are, especially to see the French Heritage, like Gold Tread which you can still depict on interior furniture on the decorations at the Versailles Palace. The same gold string was used symbolically on the Dior dresses and added to the J’adore L’Or collection.
Gold is a symbol of wealth and of course you feel the warmth, the stability, the confidence that every day will go as planned.
Every dress that you decide to wear is also a symbol of your hope and what you wish to accomplish. Seeing so many dresses on display made me feel a little bothered by the fact that those dresses,I feel, are made to be worn and showed on the runway and not be conserved over years in dark, dusty placed where no light shines in.
Dresses and people are symbols like Dior dresses which are a legacy, but after 10/15 years you look at the same dresses differently, like when it comes to music, how songs were 10 years ago,or in the ’90s with Celine Dion,JayZ and how they are today influenced by DJ like David Guetta or Solo Artists like Sia.
Music is also a great symbol especially around the Holidays, songs like ” White Christmas” are classics. Newly broadcast-ed songs like ” My True Love gave to Me” are on the roll on the local radio and enchant people with special lyrics. Also who doesn’t like to hear that famous musicians like Gwen Stefani took the leap and created a special album for this year’s holidays,it’s like a dream to many musicians.
Symbols like songs and especially around Christmas make everyone feel that a retrospective of the year, even when it comes to fashion icons like Dior,is something to be expected, because in the end symbols grant wishes and make us dream further into the future!
What are your symbols in life and how do they help you in your everyday activities?
